Whitley Strieber fills the valuable archetypal role of Prophet in our society. He’s not predicting the future, giving us doom and dates of the world’s imminent demise, but he is someone who continually asks us to “Wake up!” and to realize that the world as we think we know it is not as it seems. More than anything else, this is what I appreciate about the book and about the author himself.
With this new book he is once again trying to shake us as we slumber. It may be that the house is on fire, or just that there’s a beautiful sunrise you really shouldn’t miss, or maybe it’s both at once, he’s not saying one way or the other. He may not even be totally sure himself, but he knows that it is important to wake up now. Valuable advice from one who was shaken awake himself 25 years ago, and shared his experience with us in “Communion” and other non-fiction works that followed.
Notice that the title of the book is not “The Communion Enigma: SOLVED!” What he is presenting is a framework for proceeding toward better understanding the phenomenon that revolutionized his own life, and has the potential to do the same for the rest of us. Here he summarizes his experiences of 25 years ago, gives us an overview and update of what he and his wife have lived through in the intervening years, and brings in corroborating evidence and insights from others.
Rather than simply give us his own conclusions (although who better to do that than him?), he asks for scientific study of the evidence, which is abundant. After all, science is (or at least, should be) about discovering the true nature of reality, and not about defending prior conclusions about “the way things are”. Mr. Strieber is not asking to be believed, he is asking for honest, unbiased and rigorous investigation. It is time for the same level of scrutiny to be applied to this phenomena, which has the potential for truly advancing our understanding of the big questions of life.
The spiritual implications are the greatest mystery...

What I like about THIS book is that it goes far beyond the boxed in thinking of UFOs–this expands into the world of the spiritual, which is something I have always believed it to be connected to, also its link via quantum physics– This book is a MUST read for those who have open minds, and can think outside the box, those who know that we are so much more than just our physical bodies and that that what we perceive to be in the physical is not all it seems. Whitley did an incredible job of putting into words what is beyond words, and this book will leave you thinking like you may have never thought before…Buy the book, it’s price is but a token to the immeasurable worth of knowledge it gives back.
